Tips for better MIG welding

Firstly, as obvious as it may seem, safety is your number one priority. Correct safety gear includes flame-resistant long-sleeved shirt/jacket, full-length pants, leather shoes, leather gloves, a skull cap or bandana (to protect the top of your head) and a welding helmet.

Tips for better TIG welding

Both hands are required for TIG welding, so ensure the glove on the hand guiding the wire is flexible and thin enough for you to feel the filler rod, but thick enough to protect your hand from the heat. Woven cotton, goatskin or soft mechanics gloves are some options to try.

Better aluminium welding

Material thicknesses of aluminium that can be welded using the MIG method are 14 gauge and heavier; the output capacity of your welder determines the thickness you can weld. It may be necessary to use specialised welding equipment to MIG weld aluminium thinner than 14 gauge.
